Peter practised law since May 1978. He set up SFKS in 1981. He was the Senior Partner and the Managing Partner from June 1981 to December 2025, and continued as Founding Partner (non-equity) from January 2026 onwards.
Peter is one of the most trusted and experienced lawyers in handling high profile complex cases. Peter gained renown by chairing the Working Party on Publicity on Sale of China Properties in Hong Kong, emerging after a raft of investments from Hong Kong into dubious real estate projects. Peter acted for some of Hong Kong’s highest officials, including Chief Executives and Financial Secretary. He also acted for the only defendant being acquitted for all charges in the 128-day jury trial brought on by the ICAC against a former Chief Secretary. He is a reliable and highly sought-after solicitor on private wealth and trust matters for high-net-worth clients, as well as major cross-border litigations.
Peter acted as a Council Member and the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Compliance of the Law Society of Hong Kong. Peter was also a member and a prosecutor of its Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. He was inducted into the Roll of Honour of the Law Society of Hong Kong in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the legal sector, the development of the legal profession, and the practice of law in Hong Kong.
Highly optimistic about the future of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), Peter is among the second cohort of Hong Kong lawyers qualified to practice in GBA.
Abided by the motto ‘quantum potes, tantum aude’, or ‘do as much as you are able’ in English, Peter spared every effort both as a solicitor and as an advocate for progressive reforms in legal practice.
Having dedicated over 40 years to the legal sector, Peter was inducted into the Law Society of Hong Kong's Roll of Honour in 2018 for his invaluable contributions to the legal profession. Passionate about nurturing the next generation of professionals, Peter has played a vital role in advancing higher education. Serving as a Council Member of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2015 to 2021 and as a Court Member from 2021, Peter has offered a wealth of professional advice to the University, while undertaking significant responsibilities in multiple committees.
