SFKS has paved the way as a cross-border law firm since the 1990s. In 1995, our Founding Partner Peter Sit was appointed as a China-Appointed Attesting Officer. In 1996, Mr. Sit, in his capacity as Council Member (1995-2000), earned significant recognition as he chaired a working party on the Hong Kong sale of China properties.
Through the years, both before and after the handover of Hong Kong, Founding Partner Peter Sit served as a Council Member and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Compliance for the Law Society of Hong Kong, at the same time, leading SFKS purposefully and steadfastly, as the city stepped into a new era.
The handover was a pivotal moment for SFKS, we blazed a trail in 1997 by filing Hong Kong’s first registered design, first short-term patent, and first standard patent applications.
Today, the SFKS China Practice Group maintains this pioneering momentum by serving clients across the nation and specialising in Greater Bay Area legal expertise.

China Practice
Foreign investors and trading companies rely on legal guidance when dealing with legal issues and investments in China. Throughout the years, SFKS has established and maintained close working relationships with our network of Chinese Mainland colleagues. SFKS offers a number of lawyers based in Hong Kong who are also qualified in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) or as GBA lawyers.

In 2024, SFKS authored the Hong Kong chapters of ILN’s Buying & Selling Real Estate: An International Guide and Establishing a Business Entity: An International Guide. In 2025, SFKS contributed the Hong Kong chapter of ILN’s Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Rehabilitation Guide. Through these contributions, our industry leadership has introduced Hong Kong’s robust legal system to practitioners and professionals all over the world.

In 2018, Founding Partner Mr. Peter Sit was inducted into the Roll of Honour of the Law Society of Hong Kong, in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the legal sector, the development of the legal profession and the practice of law in Hong Kong. This prestigious list celebrates the outstanding achievement of solicitors. Only 30-odd practitioners have made it to the list since Hong Kong’s Law Society was founded in 1907.

The Next Generation of Legal Leadership
The firm is dedicated to fostering a collaborative, intergenerational learning culture that nurtures a new cohort of legal and management talent. This commitment bore fruit in January 2026, when a new generation of lawyers stepped into leadership roles at SFKS, with Roy Leung succeeding as the second Managing Partner. Alongside Roy Leung, Simon Siu and Joseph Wong were promoted to Senior Partners.
This is ahistorical moment for SFKS. It marks a stable and well-planned transition from SFKS’ first-generation management, led byPeter Sit, to a younger, more energetic generation of management. These experienced lawyers are well versed with the culture of SFKS, they will lead SFKS forward to new heights while upkeeping the solemn pledges to serve clients respectfully, to apply law professionally, and to render work effectively.
