Mathew provides holistic, practical and versatile legal services across a broad spectrum of disputes, as well as family and succession planning.  

With experience in strategically advising in commercial disputes, insolvency and restructuring, contentious trust and administration of estate and professional disciplinary proceedings, Mathew navigates complex legal challenges effectively.  Mathew also resourcefully handles litigations concerning debt recovery, land and property, building management, employment, defamation, personal injuries, as well as criminal proceedings.  Mathew collaborates closely with liquidators, receivers, legal professionals in PRC, Singapore, United Kingdom, Australia, Bermuda, US (Delaware) and France, ensuring comprehensive support for international matters.

The following are key highlights of Mathew’s experiences:

  • Estate Administration: acted for 10 beneficiaries in high-profile litigations and complex administration of a mega estate
  • Insolvency: led over 300 insolvency cases on behalf of petitioners being former employees
  • Insolvency: acted for a judgment debtor and successfully annulled the bankruptcy order worth above HK$90 million
  • Commercial Mediation: advised and participated in mediations between two multinational corporations in a dispute exceeding HK$10 million, resulting in a successful settlement.
  • Fraud Aftermath: served as sole advocate in the Companies Court to remove falsified documents wrongfully registered on the Companies Registry, contributing to published decisions

In his private client services, Mathew empathetically guides clients through family, succession and end-of-life planning, ensuring they make well-informed decisions.  Mathew prepares will, enduring power of attorney, deed of family arrangement, non-contentious application for probate or letters of administration, and mental health related court applications.  Additionally, Mathew handles divorce cases concerning ancillary relief, custody, child care, relocation and domestic violence.  

As part of his legal support to youth communities and education, Mathew acts for 10 schools operated by a church in Hong Kong.  Mathew is a committee member of the 2025 Cross Strait Four Regions Young Lawyers Forum, organised by the Law Society of Hong Kong.
